Its the first engine i've built, its a stock 1800 type 4. I'm now planning to build a 2056 over the winter to race next year and hopefully get a USB sticker if I can do a sub-18

Sounds great! Do you have any estimated build cost, if I may ask? It's great to see someone with performance intentions for their bus. That's not very common i Sweden to say the least!  ICQ/ab

Cheers!

the engine I have now cost me £2500 to build, but that included carbs, clutch, tinware, powder coating the tins red etc etc etc. I really started with something that looked like it came from a swamp

For the performance engine, I have a good core 2000cc engine and with all of the parts I need to buy and with a bit of machining work it will cost me about £1200. This is based on me having work done to my cylinder heads, but I might buy new race heads instead, i'll probably sell my 1800 engine to pay for most of this.

This will be my first performance engine because i'm still learning, so i'm starting small and will then move on to something bigger and hotter in the future. So, the plan is;

2056cc with Keith Black pistons and Eurorace hard liners and Hastings rings. A web 86a grind heat treated billet cam with hard lifters. Heads to be reworked with 42 x 36 1 piece stainless valves and chromoly valve seats. I've been advised to go with ARP connecting rods and to have it all dynamically balanced too.

I'll keep you updated when I make a start
