When VW changed the rear wheel well opening this forced a redesign of the rear corner pieces. They look the same, but the size is different:

1956-66 A='s 12.5 inches 332 mm

1967-69 A='s 11.5 inches 292 mm

I stole those measurements from the House of Ghia website. They have a full explaination about this on their website:
