It's in any case a much nicer car than a 1302.

OK it's a nicer car. But what does the paperwork say it is?

Obviously the paper work should be consistent with the actual car. A VW1302 is a completely different car than a VW1500.
The main difference is the McPherson strut suspension which is unique for the VW1302 and VW1303.
If the actual car is indeed a VW1500 (with the old fashioned torsion suspension front beam) and the VIN number under the rear seat agrees with the paper work (and you don't see that the VIN number is welded in = prove of identity change), than you're ready to go for a so called "ursprungskontroll". Which is a thorough check if the car is not stolen etc. After that the car has to be registered and MOT'd.
But the original question was if a VW1500 convertible is more worth than a VW1302 convertible. I like to think so. There a many more VW1302's in Sweden than VW1500's. That will clearly lift the value.

Where is the car located?
From the look of the photos in your add it is very obvious that the car is NOT a 1302. The frontend is totally different on the 1302 and 1303 due to the change from torsionaxle frontsuspensiont to Mcpherson suspension.
This appears to be some kind of "bastard" in the sense of an identity change some years ago? (If it actually now stands as a 1302 convertible in papers?)
Anyhow if the car is MOT'd and history is clean from the early German years I'd say there should not be any problem? And I personally would prefer an earlier look even though the ID would be for a later model so 55 is IMO very reasonable price.

Funderar på om det byggdes några 1300 cab då. Menar då årsmodell -72 då förstås . Det fanns ju vanliga 1300 bubblor då.
Bara en fundering...;-)

I guess Perra is right. The 1300 and 1500 convertible never coexisted with the 1302 and 1303 convertible. That means that the last 1300 and 1500 convertible where model year 1970. Then from 1971 to 1972 the only convertible was the 1302 and from 1973 until January 1980 it was only the 1303 that was available as convertible.
The 1200 sedan was available until 1984, although from the late 70's it was called VW1300. It was a cheap basic version with a 1200 engine.
The 1300 sedan lasted until 1975. The car continued with a 1600 engine until 2003.
The 1500 sedan lasted until 1970.

Hi
just checked under the front and it has the torsion suspension, so I assume its a 1500 as was mentioend by the historic VW people in Germany, cool
