Went and collected a rust free 1960 floor pan for the Patina Project. Fresh gloss black paint to follow.

The engine lid had a bad repair by a hippie! I did not want to restore it so I blended some paint to match the rest of the car. Came out pretty good,  just a few coats of clear when the rest of the repairs are done.

The one door card that came with the car was filthy. My girlfriend gave it a good scrub and it came up sweet.

Managed to track the 3 missings panels to match.

The seats had been attacked by the pack rats so I had no option but to replace. Found a set that will do for now although the wrong colour.

Still got to repaint the bulb holders and put new rubbers on. Pleased how the clear coat looks on the light bezzels.

Got round to painting the Oil Bath Cleaner in gloss Black rather than semi gloss.

On a recent trip to Sweden to deliver a '65 Split Single Cab we collected a Bubbla from Norway with this rack on. My buddy was kind enough to give it to me for helping him out.

Also got some German running boards which I have already started to clean up ready for paint. Hope to move the Patina Project into my garage next weekend so the strip down can begin.

Well, the weather hasn't completely turned (yet), they (brother and crew) where out for a testdrive today to prep for the registration (approx 80km round trip). Probably smiles all around but haven't heared from them since they set off  Default/yikes ....

We'll just hope that next year brings better weather than 2012!

When you and Mark delivered the Scab ( Default/lol ) the nfo we got from Rod was that you where due saturday, then my brother phoned me at work friday afternoon saying that you where coming early, i cut things short and zoomed off from Linköping to Sala but just managed to miss you and Mark ICQ/ac

PS/ You'd better stop playing with the puter and get stuck in with the bug if you have any plans to use the bug in 2013, nice bug BTW! /DS

Got a little time on the Bubbla today. The seats were toast from the pack rats that lived in them so had to strip them.

Had a good look under the arches and pretty good apart from a small section on the passenger side which will need new metal.

On the recent trip to Sweden, meet up with a fellow Boxerville user and he sold me this fantastic rack. Thanks again Jonas, I love it.

Can't wait to finally separate the body from the pan.

Started to spend a little time on the Bubbla. Moved it from its storage to my garage. First up I tore down the 6v horn and gave it some paint and clear coat.

The pan bolts have been removed, only had 3 spin on me. The body is ready to be lifted but I want to add some supports to the door apertures as I have some heater channel work to do.

http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/yy332/johnnylongtime/1962%20Patina%20Ride/DSC00566.jpg

Next up I tore out the old rubbers to remove the glass ready to lift the pan off the body

Your window frames don't look so bad, i wouldn't expect any holes under the rust aggregates. My 67 looked very similar and cleaned up nice.
Ovals it seems suffer much more from corrosion on the lower front window corners, i've seen a couple of ovals pictured on this forum that seem ok in the upper regions save for this area. My '55 roof+frame (future project) is also so afflicted.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't get any further surprizes!

Cheers!
S

Thanks for the comment. Window openings are pretty good considering the rubbers were bad. Going to go over them with a wire wheel, rust treatment & then paint. Got to get some metal to brace the body before I lift it off the floor pan.
Nice to have a '55, does it need much love?

Johnny

43

"Nice to have a '55, does it need much love?"

T'is only part of a '55 from the side trim up, instrument panel present and all window frames...

Saving it for a possible major rebuild of a buried '54 that will be secured this spring (schh.. don't tell anyone).

The axles and spring plates are covered in thick tar and gravel! WTF. Took me an hour each side to remove the 3 bolts in each spring plate. Had to use a hammer and cold chisel to chip away at it until the bolts were free.

http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/yy332/johnnylongtime/DSC00586_zps20a14a5c.jpg

Dusted off the engine bay and all looks good there.

Once the pan is stripped and out of the way I can begin the repairs to the body.

It looks not too bad Default/hmm

Don't have a lot of spare time at the mo, I am trying to do little and often. First up is the rear bumper hangers, although solid the panel behind had some holes in. Drilled out the factory spot welds ready to let in some new metal.

Wow, almost a year without an update. Well the Patina Project has taken a bit of a back seat whilst I had to deal with a crap car a fellow Boxerville user sold me. That car has taken way too long but is now UK registered and apart from a little more paint is done!
